Tsunami Volunteer Children's Club

Whilst staying in the beach town of Koh Lak in Thailand I was deeply inspired by a project run by Tsunami volunteer. They had set up a Club which ‘encouraged the children, through painting, to express stories about their communities after the tsunami, helping the children appreciate and develop a greater understanding of their community.’ Looking at the photos of the children holding up their artwork with their statements about their communities less than a year after their terrible ordeal, I had feelings of freight train struck sadness mixed with incredible optimism that they’d had the opportunity to explore and express their feelings in such a positive way.
